WILLIAM L. “LARRY” HOLCOMB JR., 60, died on Monday, Nov. 12, 2012, at Indiana University Medical Center, Indianapolis. Born in Tuscaloosa, Ala., he was the son of Wanda Jeanette Holcomb (she survives) and the late William L. “Hawk Eye” Holcomb Sr. After graduating from New Haven High School, he worked at B.F. Goodrich, Woodburn for 42 years. He was known for being an avid sportsman and was a member of the Thornbottom Hunting Preserve. He was an Alabama Football fan and loved cooking for others. He is also survived by his wife of 23 years, Dawn “Kathy” Holcomb; his Brittany Spaniel, Jake; son, William L. “Trey” (Shannon) Holcomb III; daughters, Jaime (Ryan) Overholt and Amanda Holcomb; nine grandsons; two granddaughters; siblings, Don, Butch and Jeff Holcomb, Rhonda Barton, and Marcia Tulley; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was also preceded in death by his mother-in-law, Lola Bennett. Funeral service is 10 a.m. Friday, Nov. 16, 2012, at E. Harper & Son Funeral Home, 740 St. Rd. 930 E., New Haven, with calling one hour prior to service. Pastor Brian Gerig officiating. Calling also from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 15, 2012, at the funeral home. Burial in Covington Memorial Gardens, Fort Wayne.
