Delilah.

If that one single name sparks the melancholy chorus to the 2006/2007 song “Hey there Delilah” in the symphony of your mind, you might just want to sit up take notice of today’s story.

On Sunday afternoon, July 21st, 2013, the Plain White T’s, the band that skyrocketed the melancholically universal love song Delilah to the top of the Billboard Charts and multiple Grammy nominations, will be in Fort Wayne.  For more than a decade, the band has been playing sold out shows to standing room only crowds at such iconic places around the world such as the House of Blues in Chicago, the Red Rocks Ampitheater in Colorado, and the Troubadour in Los Angeles.

Yet, this weekend at Jefferson Pointe Shopping Center, you can check out the band for FREE in an open to the public concert beginning at 1:30 pm by the fountain.

Yes, you read that right:  Free concert.  Plain White T’s.  Jefferson Point.  Sunday afternoon. 1:30 pm.

This is seriously not a joke.

The two-time Grammy nominated quintet of pop-rockers from Chicago, Illinois will perform a 30 minute “Back to School Show” sponsored by Jefferson Point and Magic 95.1, followed by a meet and greet session that shoppers can win passes to on the Jefferson Point Facebook page.

Over the course of their storied career, the Plain White T’s have sold over nine million tracks, garnered two Grammy award nominations, and written/recorded three number one smash hits:  “Hey There Delilah”, “1,2,3,4”, and “Rhythm of Love”.  The band currently has a new single on the airwaves, “Should Have Gone to Bed,” from their soon to be released album, “Wonders of the Younger”.

The band includes lead singer and acoustic guitar player Tom Higgenson, Dave Tirio on rhythm guitar and backing vocals, Tim Lopez on lead guitar and vocals, Mike Retondo on bass and backing vocals, and De’Mar Hamilton on drums and backing vocals.

Following the band’s performance at Jefferson Point on Sunday, the Plain White T’s will continue on with the summer leg of their current tour which includes stops in more than 20 locations, including The Belmont in Austin, Texas and The Parish at the House of Blues in New Orleans.
