DONALD R. METZGER, 90, died on Thursday, Dec. 5, 2013, at Adams Heritage, Monroe ville. Born in Sidney, he was the son of the late Lloyd and Margie Metzger. He was a member of New Haven United Methodist Church. The World War II Army veteran was a member of American Legion Post 330. He retired in 1976 from Norfolk Southern after 34 years and was a member of the United Transportation Union. He is survived by his son, Daniel R. (Pam) Metzger of Hoagland; daughter-in-law, Mary Metzger of Fort Wayne; sister, Marilyn (Ken) Wiley of Findley, Ohio; step-children, Nancy (Rev. Robert) Kriete of Missouri, Cathy (Melvin) Streete of Indianapolis and Steve (Karen) Wilhoff of Leo; and grandchildren, Donald, Debbie, David, Timothy, Greg, Matt, Stacey, and Brent. He was also preceded in death by his wife of 34 years, Carrol, in 2007; and son, Robert Metzger, in 2013. Funeral service is 10 a.m. Monday, Dec. 9, 2013, at E. Harper & Son Funeral Home, 740 St. Rd. 930 E., New Haven, with calling one hour prior. Pastor Chuck Fenwick officiating. Calling also from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 8, 2013, at the funeral home.
