SHARON ANNE WIGGINS, 77, of New Haven, went to be with the Lord on Friday, March 7, 2014 at Visiting Nurse Hospice Home, Fort Wayne. Sharon was born April 21, 1936 in Fort Wayne, a daughter of Captain Earl Tracey, of the Fort Wayne Fire Department, and Naomi Tracey. She was a 1954 graduate of North Side High School, Fort Wayne. She worked third shift patient registration in the ER at Lutheran Hospital for nearly 30 years. She was a hard worker, her hands were rarely still. She sewed dresses for her girls, made beautiful Raggedy Ann and Andy dolls, embroidered pillow cases and crocheted many afghans and pot holders. In the summer she froze corn and canned green beans which were well enjoyed throughout the remainder of the year. She was active with her friends in her church’s WINGS group. “Sharon had an active and sharp mind.” She had a lifelong interest in learning, whether studying the Bible, or Biblical commentaries and histories, or learning to use an iPad so she could read the Drudge Report or use Google, she liked to listen to talk radio, watch the news, and take road trips. “Sharon had a love of life, a love of God, and she was proud of her home state of Indiana, her hometown of Fort Wayne, and her family. She had a compassionate heart for people who were alone or left out.” Surviving are her husband of 57 years, Charles H. Wiggins; her seven children, Charles Brent Wiggins, Karen (Larry) Miller, Tina (Jeff) McCormack, Pam (Scott) Barron, Dawn (Tom) Mathias, Barry Wiggins, and Doug (Dawn) Wiggins; 14 grandchildren; her sister, Marlene Rikard, her brother Dennis Tracey; and her aunt, Mildred Cadwallader, among others. She was preceded in death by her father in 1970; her mother in 1982; and her brother, Phillip A. Tracey, in 1990. Funeral service is 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 11, 2014 at East Allen Church of Christ, 3800 Minnich Road, New Haven, with calling one hour prior.
