Donald Francis Haus, Sr., 84, died Thursday, June 12, 2014 after a long battle with heart, lung and kidney disease. Don was born in Mt. Lebanon, Pennsylvania and was the youngest and sole survivor of seven children of Robert SS and Mary Haus. He and his brothers were volunteer firefighters, and they had a family owned beer business. Don graduated from the University of Pittsburgh where he met Peggy, his wife of 60 years. Don had a 33-year sales career with Rockwell International, taking him to New Jersey, Ohio and Indiana, where he made many friends. He and Peggy retired to Florida in 1989. Don served in the Coast Guard Active Reserves for nine years and volunteered in leadership positions at the Elks, in his neighborhoods and with youth sports, including bowling, baseball and softball. Don is survived by his loving wife Peggy, his children Donald Jr. (Lynn) Haus, Maribeth (Jim) Welch, Sandy (Jeff) Niblick, Amy (Scott) Ferguson, Sally Haus, Tom (Kim) Haus, Becky Haus and Lisa O’Halloran; grandchildren Jenny, Maggie, Jacquie, Greg, Kate, Eryn, Scotty, Samantha, Sean, Mandi, Joshua, Andrew, Will, Madyson, and Daniel (deceased); and great grandchildren Ashley, Trey, Morgan and Donald, Abigail, McKenna, Cypress, Coral, Kendall, Keaton, Jazmyn, Kinzi, AJ, and Ryder. Don was a loving, caring family man, so Cheers to this family man who enjoyed many great friends and his “Happy Hour” Vodka. He leaves us with wonderful memories. A mass celebrating his life will be held at Prince of Peace Catholic Church on Nova Road on Mon, June 16 at 10:00 a.m. followed by a gathering at the Elks Lodge on Wilmette Street.
