MARY J. ORT, 82, of New Haven, passed away Saturday, Sept. 13, 2014 at Parkview Regional Home Health and Hospice, Fort Wayne. Born in Gary, she was the daughter of the late Pauline McKimp-son. She was a member of St. John The Baptist Catholic Church, New Haven. She retired from Carl’s Tavern, New Haven after 30 years. Her life was her kids and grandkids and she enjoyed going to all their sporting events. She was an avid sports fan following Notre Dame Football and participated in NFL fantasy football. Surviving are her children, Becky (Tom) Keith of Fort Wayne, Karen (Mark Newman) Treat of Columbia City, and Joe (Catherine) Ort of New Haven; brother, James (Janet) McKimpson of North Carolina; grandchildren, Lindsey (Clifton) Harris, Tye Ziadeh, Dustin Keith, Joe, Austin, and Colton Ort, Paige and Lauren Cheatham; and 11 great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, George Ort in 2007; daughter, Sharen (Denny Bowling) Cheatham. Funeral service is 7 p.m. Wednesday at E. Harper & Son Funeral Home, 740 St. Rd. 930 E., New Haven with visitation from 1 to 3 and 5 to 7 p.m. prior to service. Father Bill Sullivan officiating.
