DEWEY “GENE” MARKS, 87, of New Haven, died on Sunday, Oct. 19, 2014, at Parkview Regional Medical Center, Fort Wayne. Born in Toledo, Ohio, he was the son of the late Dewey and Marie Marks. He was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, New Haven and a graduate of Notre Dame University. He served his country in the U.S. Navy and retired in 1980 from International Harvester after 20 years. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Mary; children, Mike (Jean) Marks of New Haven, Julie (John) Karakaian of Seville, Ohio, Garen (Sandra Hecht) Marks and Doug (Vicki) Marks, both of Fort Wayne; and grandchildren, Nick (Sarah) Karakaian, Derek Marks, Chrissy Marks, Heather (Clark) Lichty, and Chad Simcoe. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Elsie Navin. Mass of Christian Burial is 11 a.m. Thursday at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 943 Powers St., New Haven, with calling 1/2 hour prior.
