Betty A. Crumback, 86, passed away peacefully Saturday, January 24, 2015 at home surrounded by her family. Born in Grand Rapids, MI she was the daughter of the late John and Winifred (Scott) Duyser. Betty was a secretary in the insurance industry before dedicating her life to her children and grandchildren.
Betty will always live on in the hearts and minds of the family she cherished and nurtured. She was the beloved wife of Richard, mother of Jane, Mary, and Russell, and grandmother of Scott, David, Rachel, Kelli, Claire, Emma, Dennis and Tony. Betty traveled the world with her husband Richard. Music was a big part of their lives, from the jukebox to Eddy Arnold concerts to singing favorite hymns. Her greatest joys were creating wonderful holiday, birthday, and Christmas celebrations. In the summer, she loved vacationing with her family at many Michigan lakes. She will live on always when we gather, see a sunset, watch old time movies, hear her favorite songs, see photographs taken, collected, and so lovingly shared each Christmas.
Betty’s life was full of love, laughter and smiles. She found great joy in the simple things. She was a faithful and good friend, an enthusiastic member of her high school Godwin Heights “Golden G’s” and supported their Scholarship Fund. She was a loyal and patriotic American. Her family will be comforted by her strong faith. She is survived by her husband of 63 years; Richard R. Crumback of Fort Wayne; children,
Jane (Jim) Childers, Mary Schalliol, Russell (DeAnna) Crumback, all of Fort Wayne; grandchildren: Scott (Ashina), David (Amanda), Rachel (Matt), Kelli, Claire (Ryan), Emma, Dennis (Denise) and Tony (Michelle); sister-in-law Beverly; cherished nephews, nieces, friends and grand dogs.
