JAMES “JIM” ALAN SHAWVER, 63, of New Haven, passed away on Monday, Feb. 23, 2015, at home with his family by his side. Born in Portland, he was the son of the late Helen and Merle Shawver and was a 1970 graduate of Portland High School. He was a member of Cedar Creek Church of Christ, Fort Wayne. He was a salesman for over 20 years in the water industry. He retired from the U.S. Army in 1996 and was a member of American Legion Post 43, Decatur. He is survived by his daughters, Dawn (Shawn) Swope of New Haven and April (William) Marker of Monroeville; siblings, Peter Shawver of Farmland, Jeff (Alana) Shawver, Diane Shawver, Tammy Shawver, Nancy Shawver, and Karen Shawver, all of Portland; and grandchildren, Brandon, Brittany, Victoria, and Matthew Marker, Taylor, Bailey, and Casey Swope. Funeral service is 2 p.m. Friday, Feb. 27, 2015, at E. Harper & Son Funeral Home, 740 St. Rd. 930 E., New Haven, with calling one hour prior. Preacher Mike Kaufman officiating. Calling also from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 26, 2015, at the funeral home. Burial in I.O.O.F. Cemetery, New Haven, with military honors.
