Meet a New Haven Police Department Canine Team Leader

K9 Henry is a 3 year old German Shepherd Dog, is certified in Patrol and Narcotics work, and is assigned to Officer Jonathan Wenzel. Officer Wenzel has been a K9 Handlerwith the New Haven Police Department in New Haven, Indiana since June, 2013.K9 Henry was imported from Poland by Faus Kennels in Elkhart, Indiana in May, 2013 and became a member of the New Haven Police Department one week after arriving in the United States. K9 Henry and K9 Handler Jonathan Wenzel completed basic K9 Training School at the Fort Wayne Police Department on September 11th, 2013. K9 Henry prefers to be working, but enjoys playing ball in the back yard at home with his family.

The American Police Canine Association is excited to host the 2015 National American Police Canine Conference in New Haven. The 2015 APCA National Conference will offer many training sessions for law enforcement officers and their service dogs. It is an opportunity for the officers to take advantage of the networking and brainstorming opportunities to discuss challenges, best practices and solutions with fellow law enforcement officers. Various training sessions are geared toward providing participants the latest training developments in canine training, tactical training and more which round out the educational offerings of the Conference.
