Central Lutheran School Care Ministry Project

Second and fourth grade students at Central Lutheran School kicked off their annual Care Ministry Project with a visit from a very special guest.  Joe Boway spoke to these students about his life in Liberia, Africa and his decision to leave his homeland during the country’s civil war.  Since coming to the United States and becoming a teacher, he has returned to Liberia many times and has helped create 13 Lutheran schools there that now serve over 3600 students.  Students at Central will be raising money and collecting school supplies and books for Joe to take with him to Africa in January and again later in the school year.  Teachers have also used financial grants from Thrivent Financial to purchase supplies for this project.  Many thanks to Joe for his ministry and to the families of second and fourth graders at Central for their help with this important project.
