Father Kenneth Joseph Sarrazine, 79, passed away on Saturday. December 17, 2016 at St. Anne Home, Fort Wayne. Born in Fort Wayne, he was the son of the late Norman and Florence (Bowers) Sarrazine. He attended St. Louis Academy at St. Louis, Besancon Parish, New Haven. He went on to attend Mount St. Mary’s Seminary, Norwood, Ohio, and Our Lady of the Lake Seminary, Wawasee. Father Sarrazine was ordained on December 22, 1962 by Bishop Leo A. Pursley in the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, Fort Wayne. He retired in 2012 from active ministry after a half century of service. During his service, Father Sarrazine was appointed an assistant at St. Vincente de Paul Church, Elkhart (1963), St. Henry Church, Fort Wayne (1964), St. Jude, South Bend (1965), St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, New Haven (1972), and Cathedral, Fort Wayne (1975). He was a spiritual moderator for the South Bend Deanery Council of Catholic Nurses (1966). In July 1976, Father Sarrazine was appointed an advocate for Diocesan Tribunal. His pastoral assignments included St. Martin de Porres, Syracuse, along with St. Francis Xavier, Pierceton (1976); St. Joseph, Mishawaka (1980); St. Henry, Fort Wayne (1991), and St. Joseph, Roanoke, and St. Catherine of Alexandria, Nix Settlement (1998). He also served as a chaplain at Lutheran Hospital, and of local Catholic Order of Foresters. He was a 4th Degree Knight of Columbus, and a large supporter of Redeemer Radio.

He is survived by his siblings, Norbert (Clara) Sarrazine, Eugene (Charlotte) Sarrazine, Donald (Patricia) Sarrzine, and Mary (Wilbur) Ort all of New Haven, Leo (Marion) Sarrazine of Garrett, Bernard (Joyce) Sarrazine of Monroeville, and Ann (Lawrence) Schortgen of Fort Wayne; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was also preceded in death by his siblings, Lucille Sarrazine and Robert Sarrazine; sisters-in-law, Marilyn and Eleanor Sarrazine; one niece; and one nephew.

Mass of Christian Burial is 11a.m., Friday, December 23, 2016 at St. Louis Besancon, 15535 Lincoln Highway East, New Haven with visitation one hour and a half prior. Most Reverend Bishop Kevin C. Rhoades officiating. Calling is also from 2 to 7 p.m., Thursday, December 22, 2016 at the church with a Rosary at 4:30 pm. Burial in Catholic Cemetery, Fort Wayne. Preferred memorials are to Masses, St. Louis Academy, and Redeemer Radio.
