Paulding Putnam Electric Brings Energy Experience to LEARN After School Program

Students in LEARN Resource Center’s after school programs at New Haven Intermediate and Heritage Elementary recently received a visit from Paulding Putnam Electric Cooperative. Peter Niagu, Energy Advisor for Paulding Putnam, came to both schools and students competed against each other in an energy trivia game. They were asked questions about renewable and nonrenewable energy and identified different types of energy based on a given description. The competition ended in a tie, and both schools will receive a cookie party compliments of Paulding Putnam.

Students also had the opportunity to ride an energy bike. By riding the energy bike, the kids powered three different kinds of light bulbs: incandescent, fluorescent, and LED. This demonstration helped show students which kind of light bulbs are most energy efficient as the light bulbs required different amounts of peddling.
