Welcome to the East Allen County School’s monthly construction update, as it relates to New Haven. I would like to share the many improvements to OUR school district that are changing the look of OUR city. So many exciting things are happening in New Haven and I’m frequently asked “what’s happening now?”

New safety entrances have been added or are being added to ALL schools within the EACS’s district.

Improvements at the New Haven Primary School, in Highland Terrace, are completed. They have added classrooms for our special needs pre-school children. The addition truly highlights the pre-K through second grade school.

The intermediate school, which houses grades 3-6, is underway on the previous site of Park Hill. The demolition in that area is nearly complete, allowing the footers and cement block to commence. The installation of the masonry walls in Unit C (the classroom addition) has begun and the outline of the first floor classrooms is now visible.

The new Middle School wing, which is moving to the high school campus, is going up very quickly. It will have 7th and 8th grade students occupying the two-story building on the Green Road side of the high school.

New Haven High Schools’ renovations continue to proceed. The foundation for the new field house, located on the west side of the building, has begun; a majority of the interior is being remodeled, including the gym. Work continues on: the overhead mechanical, electrical and plumbing (MEP) installation in the main gym and upper gym areas, painting of the walls and ceiling deck located on the 2nd floor of the gym are also in process, along with the installation of railing and glass along the 2nd floor. Installation of the turf football field will begin in late May and be ready for the next Bulldog football season. It will be incredible to see the “new” John Young Field.
Thank you for making this happen and tune in next month for the “What’s Happening Now” monthly update to OUR New Haven Schools.
