PAUL D. WELTY, 74, of New Haven, died on Monday, Jan. 9, 2012, at New Haven Care & Rehabilitation, New Haven. Born in Bluffton, Ohio, he was the son of the late Hiram and Elizabeth Welty. The U.S. Navy veteran was a member of American Legion Post 47, New Haven Moose Lodge 1480 where he was a charter member and served as the 1st Governor, and New Haven Fraternal Order of Eagles. He retired in 1993 from Navistar after 19 years and later retired in 2001 from Bentz Transportation Products after eight years. He is survived by his son, Earl (Deonna) Welty of Fort Wayne; stepgrandchildren, Jason Young, Adam (Shannon) Young and Lanei Young; and three step-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife of 42 years, Joan Welty, in 2007; daughter, Anne Marie Welty; and brothers, Robert and Don Welty. Funeral service is 10 a.m. Friday, Jan. 13, 2012, at E. Harper & Son Funeral Home, 740 St. Rd. 930 E., New Haven. The Rev. Paul Shoemaker officiating. Calling is from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 12, 2012, at the funeral home, with a 7:30 p.m. service by Moose Lodge 1480, New Haven.
