The Niswonger Performing Arts Center of Northwest Ohio was honored with the Crystal Image Award presented by the Van Wert Area Chamber of Commerce at their annual banquet on January 26, 2012. The award is presented to a current Chamber member business that has demonstrated leadership within the Van Wert community by its many faceted contributions which include business responsibility, productivity strength, employee empowerment, and service to the community.

Niswonger PAC Executive Director, Paul Hoverman accepts the award from Van Wert Area Chamber Director, Susan Munroe.

What began as a dream in 2001 became a reality in 2007 when the Niswonger Performing Arts Center of Northwest Ohio opened its doors for the first public concert. The mission set forth by the governing board, the Van Wert Area Performing Arts Foundation, was, in short, to inspire, educate and entertain residents of Van Wert County and the surrounding region as well as stimulate economic growth.

As the NPAC enters its fifth year, the Center has had a direct impact in all areas of the stated mission. It has offered a variety of programming encompassing all genres of music, shows and speakers. The NPAC has grown from 11 professional shows in 2007 to 27 with the completion of the 2011-2012 season. At the end of 2007, 71% of the ticket buying patrons resided in Van Wert County. That percentage is now 34% of 3100 plus buyers in 2011. The mailing list now exceeds 8500 which includes over 30 states and Canada. Patrons have come to Van Wert County spending dollars for food, lodging and fuel, all while enjoying the variety of programs at the NPAC.

The NPAC has offered educational opportunities through master classes with professionals, pre-concert lectures with directors, assemblies for students both locally and regionally. Over 150 student and local volunteers contribute regularly to the success of the organization. The NPAC has also provided the community with a state of the art facility for utilization of receptions, meetings, training sessions, award ceremonies, and more. Partnerships have been established with restaurants, organizations and hotels increasing revenues for additional local businesses. Over the years, through various donations and gifts the center has added a showcase of spectacular art for visual beauty and effect.

The future is bright for the NPAC and its impact on the Van Wert community as it enters its fifth season celebrating the arts in Northwest Ohio.
