VERNON L. WICK, 96, of New Haven, passed away Saturday, March 17, 2012 at Wood view Health Care Center in Fort Wayne. The Chattanooga, Ohio native was a World War II Navy veteran and a proud Honor Flight participant. He was the owner of Vick’s Diner, the Stockyard Restaurant, and the Southside Grill, before becoming a salesman for Jim Kelley Buick from which he retired after many years. He was a member of the Trier Ridge Community Church for more than 70 years. “He dearly loved his family and enjoyed a good game of cards”. Surviving are his son, Terry E. (Beth) Wick of Stevens Point, Wisc.; daughters, Sandra A. Smith, and Susan K. (Tom) Thompson both of Fort Wayne; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Velma Wick; parents, Frederick and Catherine Wick; three sisters; and four brothers. Service is 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, March 21, 2012 at D.O. McComb & Sons Maplewood Park Funeral Home, 4017 Maplecrest Road with calling one hour prior. Calling also from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, March 20, 2012 at the funeral home.
