HERMAN “TOM” THOMPSON, 93, of New Haven, died on Sunday, April 8, 2012, at Parkview Hospital on Randallia, Fort Wayne. Born in Tyro, Ark., he was the son of the late Robert and Ida Thompson. The World War II veteran served his country in the U.S. Coast Guard and was a member of local Teamsters #414. He retired in 1981 from Fruehauf Corp. He is survived by his wife of 22 years, Eileen Thompson; children, Thomas Young and Mary Noll, both of Florida and Jean Byers of California; stepchildren, Stephen Ellis of Parker City, Lynne Oberley of Fort Wayne and Karen Schumm of Edgerton, Ohio; 18 grandchildren; 31 great- grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by one brother; and one sister. Funeral service is 10 a.m. Monday, April 16, 2012, at E. Harper & Son Funeral Home, 740 St. Rd. 930 E., New Haven. Pastor Dick Schultz officiating. Calling is from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday, April 15, 2012, at the funeral home. Burial in I.O.O.F. Cemetery, New Haven, with military honors.
