Carl’s Tavern Wall of Flame

Two weeks ago, Carl’s Tavern kicked off its “Wall of Flame” chicken wing challenge. Interested participants can stop in anytime to try and earn the right to have their name and picture on the Wall of Flame. To successfully complete the challenge, each competitor must eat 10 chicken wings doused in Carl’s Seriously, Ridiculously, Over-the-Top, XXX hot sauce in 5 minutes. To make the challenge even more difficult, competitors are not permitted to drink anything, and if they can’t beat the heat, the defeated contenders ring a bell in submission to the sauce.
“I’ve been told that the sauce is the hottest in town,” says David Byrd, manager at Carl’s. “Everybody that’s done it hasn’t had any problems, but we keep Tums, eye wash, and milk on hand at all times.”
To date, Carl’s has had 10 participants, 7 of which have been successful.
