Chicken Dinners!
This year one of the area baseball teams will be selling chicken dinners. Please support this group of fine young baseball players from the community with their fundraiser. These boys are trying to raise money to continue to have the opportunity to improve their skills and play against teams from around the Tri-State Area. They will get the chance to play against teams from Michigan and Ohio as well as Indiana. Your support would be greatly appreciated and would help allow the boys to reach their goals. The large portion chicken dinners provided by Rack & Helen's will come with baked beans and coleslaw for $8.00. The dinners will be available for pick-up Saturday, September 11th from 10:00-1:00 in the West parking lot of Central Lutheran School. Pre-sale dinners can be purchased Saturday, August 28th and Saturday, September 4th at Central Lutheran School at the baseball table to the south of the football concession stand from 9:00-12:00. All pre-sale dinner buyers will be entered into a drawing to win 1 of 5 one-hour sessions for the batting cages at the new Diamond Baseball & Softball Academy (Formerly Extra Innings). The baseball boys will also be selling pre-sale dinners. You can also contact Tim Tracey at 710-1956 with pre-sale requests. Batting cage winners will be posted at the pick-up site on September 11th. Only pre-sale dinners will be eligible for the drawing. You can also purchase dinners Saturday, September 11th from 10:00-1:00 at Central Lutheran School's west parking lot. Please contact Tim Tracey at 710-1956 or Ty Luginbill at 409-2537 with any questions.
THE CHURCH BASEMENT LADIES RETURN TO THE NPAC TO SERVE UP AN ALL-NEW CHRISTMAS PROGRAM
And out of the basement shall come a Church Basement program of good tidings, great humor and joy! The ladies are serving it up again. This time around it’s an all-new holiday show. Troupe America, Inc., the Producer of the nationally acclaimed musical comedy Church Basement Ladies opens the Niswonger Performing Arts Center of Northwest Ohio holiday season with a new musical comedy Away in the Basement: A Church Basement Ladies Christmas on November 23 with two shows at 2 pm and 7:30 pm in Van Wert, Ohio.
Away in the Basement takes us back to 1959 and the day of the Sunday School Christmas Program. In the midst of holiday preparations and sprinklings of love in the air, the ladies in their witty, down-to-earth style are creating their own memories from past and present Christmases.. Content to do things the way they have always been done yet pondering new ideas, the reality of everyday life hits home as they plan the Sunday School Christmas Program. As the children rehearse up in the sanctuary, several of the ladies of the kitchen are finishing up the treat bags filled with apples, peanuts and ribbon candy while the others put the final touches on the nativity pieces. As they mend old bathrobe costumes, discuss the politics of who’s going to play the various roles, little do the ladies know what surprises are in store for them. Known for their hilarious antics and subtle charm, they are once again called upon to step in and save the day!
In developing an all-new holiday show, Away in the Basement: A Church Basement

Away in the Basement is directed by Curt Wollan, choreographed by Wendy Short Hays with set design by Jared Grohs, lighting design by Scott Herbst, sound design by Mark Brodin, costume design by Katrina Benedict and musical direction by Drew Jansen.
All three installments of the musical comedy Church Basement Ladies are Inspired by the books of author/humorists Janet Letnes Martin and Suzann Nelson including the bestseller Growing Up Lutheran . Its sequel, Church Basement Ladies 2: A Second Helping opened March 2008. Audiences instantly fell in love with the Church Basement Ladies and it has grown to be the most successful show produced both locally and nationally by Troupe America in its twenty-three year history.
